3 Super Simple IT Habits You Can Cultivate Today

3 Super Simple IT Habits You Can Cultivate Today

Even though it’s incredibly helpful, technology can be frustrating—sometimes to an absurd degree. Businesses can’t function without it, so they have to learn to live with it, but it doesn’t have to be hard. You can develop some habits by using these tricks to reduce some of the friction in your workday.

Solve Problems with Restarting

Restarting your device can make a significant difference. Rather than letting it go to sleep, try shutting it down fully. This gives the device time to clear out temporary files, memory, and other data that could slow it down or create operational complications. With a restart, you’re letting your device clean the slate, so to speak, and eliminate threats that might exist if you were to leave it on and locked.

Use the Built-In Find Feature

Can’t find what you’re looking for? There’s a keyboard shortcut for that. In just about any application on your computer, you’ll have access to the Ctrl + F keyboard shortcut for Find. Once the dialog box opens, type in the word or phrase you’re looking for and let the shortcut do the hard work while you sit back and relax.

Lock Your Screen, Silly

Every time you walk away from your screen without first locking it, you’re putting your business’ data at risk. Thankfully, it’s easy enough to lock. All you have to do is ensure that you have a password or some kind of authentication enabled, then use the Windows Key + L keyboard shortcut. If you’re using macOS, your keyboard shortcut will be Ctrl+Command+Q instead.

Technology Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated (Or Frustrating)

Even if it seems remarkably complicated, one thing is usually true for IT. The solution to your problem will almost always be simpler than you think it is. We take this philosophy one step further by making it as easy as possible for you to solve your IT challenges.
